Ciao a tutti. Qualcuno mi sa spiegare a cosa serviva quel lamierino sottile, saldato mediante stagnatura sul fondello di pezzi d'artiglieria francesi (usati anche dagli italiani ) durante la grande guerra.
Lamierino presente sicuramente nel 75 e nel 105 mm.
Grazie

Re: Domanda su pezzi francesi
Hello,
These plates were used to lower the number of shells exploding inside the barrel when firing. These plates (also existing in copper) prevented that the high pressure powder gases inside the gun barrel could enter the inside of the shell through small cracks in the shell base. Some british shells had thick steel plates inserted into the shell base for the same purpose.
Maybe someone can translate please :-)
Regards, Stefan

Re: Domanda su pezzi francesi
Sure, here below the explanation for us, thanks Stefan!
